MISSIONAL COMMUNITY

Founded on the gospel a Missional Community is a Family of Servant Missionaries sent by God to make disciples that makes disciples.

WHAT IS A MISSIONAL COMMUNITY (MC)?

A missional community is much more than a weekly event. MCs gather together at different times throughout the week to fulfill Jesus' mission of being disciples who make disciples. Together we learn how to worship and submit to Jesus in all of life by learning how to love one another as family, worship Jesus as servants who serve others, and share the good news of Jesus Christ as his sent missionaries.

Every missional community identifies a group of people whom they believe God is sending them to love, serve, and share Jesus with. It could be a neighborhood, an existing ministry in the city or network of relationships. We want to see every aspect of our city blessed by God's people: business, arts, education, sports, recreation, and social services.

MC’s are smaller groups of people that worship and submit to Jesus together in all of life by learning to love one another as family, serve a specific mission (like a neighborhood, an affinity group, or other contexts in our community) and be a witness to the good news of Jesus Christ in our city. This is where real life happens, as together we seek to believe and live out the good news in the normalcy of daily life.

As Missional Communities grow, they multiply into more gospel communities living on mission—each displaying and declaring the satisfying, transforming Good News of Jesus.

F.A.Q.

How do I get connected with others at Greenbriar?

We like to ask the question where and to whom do you feel God is sending you? Our hope is to connect you with a MC already on mission to that people group. If you are unsure we connect you with a new MC close to where you live.

SPOTLIGHT:

We use the SPOTLIGHT space in the Mission Cafe to hear stories of people and communities pursuing gospel enjoyment, love for one another and a love for those in our city. If you want to share your personal or MC story email us. We want to hear! Email: info@greenbriarchurch.net

We desire to invite others into our working, playing, eating, and living so that they can see and hear the good of Jesus at work in our lives.

We desire to make disciples of Jesus TOGETHER in gospel community.

We desire to see our city transformed into the likeness of Jesus Christ as an outpouring of our lives lived in community and on mission .

We have been given an identity by Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. From Him we live and move and breath.

What is a
disciple?

In order to make disciples that make disciples we must define the word.

F.A.Q.

What about our kids?

* Greenbriar reimburses childcare cost. We ask missional communities to provide their own childcare volunteer. Email info@greenbriarchurch.net for more information

* Children need to hear the gospel, see a genuine community, and experience dependency on the Spirit throughout the week. If gospel, community, and mission are what we want for our children what are ways we can involve them? This is a resource to get the wheels turning.

F.A.Q.

Does Greenbriar have men/women groups?

Greenbriar encourages Partners and attendees to build DNA groups within their MCs. The term “DNA group” refers to a group that ideally consist of three people—men with men, women with women— who meet together weekly. They seek to be known and to bring the gospel to bear on each other’s lives so that they grow to become more like Jesus.

DNA is an acronym that reminds us of three key components of discipleship: Discover, Nurture, and Act.
