Sept. 22nd- Oct. 227th, Partnership Experience is a 6-week group experience with others learning about Greenbriar’s history, mission, vision, values, and distinctives. If you would like to know more about Greenbriar and how God has made you to make disciples that make disciples in the context of community sign up!
Join us Missional Community Core Teams members as we meet bi-monthly for celebration, vision, and practical resources/answers to being a disciple of Jesus in the context of community for the glory of God and the benefit of our city. We take time to celebrate with food, raffles, and stories. We take time to remind ourselves of the call in Matthew 28:18-20, to be disciples that make disciples. We remind ourselves we do not “go to church” we ARE the church ( 1 Peter 2:9-10), holding each other accountable for growing in our identities of Family, Abider, Servant, and Missionary.
A disciple is an apprentice of Jesus who reorients his or her life around three goals, to be with Jesus, become like Jesus and do what Jesus did.
Discipleship is leading others to increasingly submit all of life to the empowering presence and lordship of Jesus Christ.
A missional community founded on the gospel is a family of servant missionaries sent by God to make disciples that make disciples.
Join us to commission someone to the office of deacon during the morning gathering on Sept. 1st .
Greenbriar commissions those who are pursuing Christ and visibly growing in the office of a deacon (lead servant) as stated in 2 Timothy 3:8-13. If you would like to know more about who can be a deacon and how become more involved with Greenbriar check out our NEXT STEPS table or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
We are asking Partners and guest to JOIN US in prayer for local missionaries from Greenbriar trying to reach a pocket of people together in the every day stuff of life.
Jesus told his disciples that just as the Father had sent him, he would be sending them/us (John 20:21). When we look at the life of Jesus we see the mission (die for our sins, penal substitution), perfect submission to the Father, an indwelling/empowering of the Spirit, the message of the gospel, and a life lived in community.
Jesus lived life on life, life in community, and life on mission.
We are to called to such a life, and when we do Jesus is with us, for we are with him (Matt. 28:18-20, John 15:5).
Missional Communities take on the identities given by God because of the gospel of God. These identities are Family, Abider, Servant, Missionary.
We gather the first of each month to pray for a current or new missional community (MC). Join us for prayer. For more information on Missional Communities visit the Missional Community page.
"In an effort to tangibly live out "For God and For This City" we are going to take the opportunity this Sunday during 9:30 Prayer to pray for neighboring churches in Albany and Lee County. We, along with other churches, will accomplish nothing without the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. We will have paper and pens available for you to write out a prayer, verse, or note of encouragement and we will get the notes to them this week. Please make every effort to join us for 9:30 Prayer this week as we seek the Lord together as a family."
August 25th, 9:15-9:30, Mike McVey and Daniel Willis will be sharing their journey of being disciples that make disciples in the context of community, with the focus on Luke 14:13-14, “But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, 14 and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”
