7 Pillars
Acts 2:42 – “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
Proverbs 9:1 – “Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn out its seven pillars.”
God’s Word
“steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine” The Bible is the believer’s greatest tangible gift. God has revealed Himself through His Word, and it holds all the wisdom the believer needs to live everyday life. God’s Word is authority. God’s Word is inspired by Him. God’s Word is without error.
Prayer
“and in prayers.” Prayer is the most powerful force in the universe (and beyond) because it is directly connected to God’s hand. Prayer is worship and it is provision. It is thankfulness and it is praise. Prayer is the most important tool we have as believers, and without it the believer is defenseless and alone.
Community
“in fellowship and in the breaking of the loaves” We live in times of haste and speed where relationships are sidelined and self is the priority. The first church was a strong community where each brother and sister in Christ was taken care of by other brothers and sisters in Christ. Relationship building is key to a spiritually healthy church.
Unity
“And all who believed were together and had all things common.” God loves unity, and He honors unity among believers, family, and the church. Disunity and offense quenches the Holy Spirit in any environment, but unity strengthens the bond of peace and affords liberty for God to move mightily in our lives.
Authenticity
“that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” We are called to be real, genuine and authentic, not plastic, fake or counterfeit. What you see is what you get – no smoke and mirrors. No politics or bureaucracy. Our church and church leadership is open and transparent. Our leaders all have an open door policy – we desire to be real.
Evangelism
(Rom 1:16) “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” The greatest thing a church can do is soul win!
Discipleship
(Mat 28:20) teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you.” Soul-winning is not the end result, but only the beginning. We must take time to teach, train and disciple with the Word of God those who are being saved.
